Tunng “It’s Because……………We’ve Got Hair” Full Time Hobby

This 2-track single, well OK one track 2 edits, is a slice of jangly, electronic folk music. Not bad, but not as memorable as, say, The Magic Numbers.

The Little Ones “Lovers Who Uncover” Heavenly Recordings

Two tracks of West Coast pop, both “Lovers Who Uncover” and “Cha Cha Cha” are happy, summer sounding tracks. LA bans The Little Ones are newly signed to Heavenly Recordings and will be touring the UK in January- they also release mini- album “Sing Song “ early in 2007.

Sucking Diesel “ Sick Romantic E.P”

Hampshire based Sucking Diesel release the “Sick Romantic E.P”, a 3 track single with enhanced “Trailer Park” video.
Singer Cherry Clare has a voice reminiscent of Debbie Harry and Gwen Stefani- no bad thing as the bands cutting lyrics and powerful melodies suit this nicely. Sucking Diesel are a band I would like to catch live after listening to this EP.

Subtle “The Mercury Craze” EMI (Cat No ELEX 041CDP)

Subtle’s “The Mercury Craze” is a refreshing, upbeat hip hop/rock/pop track not dis-similar to Outkast. Front-man Doseone has a distinctive voice that is easy to imagine in the Top 10.The video to the single splices live action, animation, cartoon and vintage film footage and will be available on this enhanced CD single. The band are due to play the later this month.

The Be Be See “You K Gold” At Large Recordings

The Be Be See release this 2 track CD after being together for 5 months, and were signed after just 3 gigs. At this point you are probably thinking they are either great or that we will never hear from them again- well, I can confirm that this Pulp like single is actually quite good (although a bit 90’s Britpop)..

Stackridge “Stackridge” Angelair (Cat No SJPCD230)

Originally called Stackridge Lemon the band quickly dropped the Lemon and played at the original Glastonbury in 1970 (although it was then known as The Shepton Mallet Rhythm and Blues Festival).
This album was first released in 1971 and has now been re-mastered and re-released,
There are moments here that remind me of early David Bowie (“Grande Piano”), the Beach Boys (“Percy The Penguin”) and Paul McCartney (“Marigold Connection”).
Fans of the band should also enjoy the bonus tracks “Slark” (Single Version) and “Let There Be Lids”.

Tracks to Burn? “Grande Piano”, “Percy The Penguin” and “Marigold Connection”.
Why Buy? A nostalgic trip for fans of the band.

Harpies “ “Echoes/Favour This” Fortune & Glory (Cat No FORCD122)

The Harpies new double A-side single sets the pace for their new album and forthcoming UK tour. “Echoes” has a feel not a million miles away from
Evanescence, and Nicky Honey’s vocal sit nicely alongside the heavy, but tuneful, melodies provided by the band.
