JOHN YOUNG (ASIA/SCORPIONS/GREENSLADE)

The very talented JOHN YOUNG has performed with many artists including ASIA, the SCORPIONS, FISH & GREENSLADE. His solo work is well worth checking out - click here!

1. What's happened for the band in 2006? (Any line-up changes, new music etc)

Well the band has been pretty quiet in 2006 despite several re-surfacing attempts but that said we should be back out and gigging in December (Stourbridge, Swindon, Guildford and Bedford) with more to come in February including London.
The line up will always be in a state of flux due to member's commitments to other more established acts but that said it is my intention to get a core of high quality players within our framework so the band can gig on a more regular basis.
Dave Stewart (drums) and Steve Vantsis (bass) are not working with us on the next shows due to heavy workloads and as such they will be replaced by Frosty Beedle (drums) (ex Cutting Crew) and Andy Carr (bass) (ex ABC and Shakespeare's Sister)

2. What bands have you been involved with live wise during 2006 and live highlight(s)?

Once again The Scorpions earlier in the year and Bonnie Tyler throughout the year
the highlights I guess would be the Scorps show at the Pyramids and BT's shows in Australia

3. What have been the highlight(s) and low point(s) of this year?

Highlights my German tour in the spring and my tour of the U.S. east coast with the solo show ...I loved it.
Low Points ...just the sheer level of work involved trying to raise awareness when no record company or radio stations are involved my day starts at 9am and finishes around midnight 7 days a week

4. Is your audience the same people who have followed the band since its early days, or are you picking up a different fan base?

Well thanks to the arrival of myspace I have been able to do shows in the USA and Australia something I wouldn't have dreamt of a couple of years ago. That said I would like to give a big thank you for the loyal supporters we have had since day 1.

5. Any good rock 'n' roll tales to tell?

yup

7. Your take on the current music scene (both rock & in gerneal terms)..

I think it's going through a transition people have tended to follow trends and times with regards to music and sadly with reality TV the brainwashed will continue to determine things for a while.
That said thanks to myspace and similar sites people are starting to be curious of what is outside the box and hopefully that will in turn bring the downfall of the communist state that is the music business....we shall see.

8. Which new musicians/bands do you think have impressed you? Who would you like to work with in the future?

Without harping on ...there are many new bands on myspace worth a shout...so much better than most of the fodder we are given on commercial radio. As for who I'm going to work with... that's a secret:-)

9. What would you like to achieve ideally by this time next year?

To be heard:-)

10. Message to your fans...

I love you all ...now lets get back in the car and this time I'll drive!
Love and Peas
