Rising Stars - HEADRUSH

An excellent new rock'n' roll band from Stoke-on-trent, England who could well be the UK's answer to US rockers BUCKCHERRY. Check out more here

1. What's happened for the band in 2006? (Any line-up changes, new music etc)

2006 HAS BEEN THE BUSIEST YEAR YET FOR THE BAND, JIMI JAMES JOINED UP ON
DRUMS, WE HAVE WRITTEN ALOT OF NEW SONGS, AND ALSO WORKED WITH STUART EPPS
(LED ZEP/BAD COMPANY/TWISTED SISTER) ON OUR SINGLE 'LIVIN IN A FANTASY' WE
HAVE ALSO APPEARED ON REDEMPTION TV ON SKY, BEEN OFFERED A MANAGEMENT AND
RECORD DEAL IN CANADA, AND CURRENTLY HAVE ONE OF OUR SONGS ON THE OFFICIAL
DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL MYSPACE PAGE MUSIC PLAYER. WE HAVE MADE SOME GREAT
CONTACTS IN SWEDEN AND THE USA, AND HAVE PEOPLE WILLING TO SHOP OUR ALBUM
(WHICH IS CURRENTLY BEING RECORDED) TO LABELS IN THE USA AND EUROPE. ALSO WE
ARE GOING TO BE TOURING IN NORWAY, GERMANY, IRELAND AND THE USA NEXT YEAR
THROUGH THE OFFICIAL CHARITY FOR CLIVE BURR (THE EX-IRON MAIDEN DRUMMER)
CLIVE-AID.

2. What bands have you been involved with live wise during 2006 and live
highlight(s)?

WE HAVE PLAYED SHOWS WITH: THE QUIREBOYS, THE GLITTERATI, SLUNT,
PITCHSHIFTER, HUNDRED REASONS, THE ALMIGHTY, ALSO THE BULLDOG BASH, TOTAL
ROCK ROCKS YA SOCKS SHOW, AND A HEADLINE SLOT AT THE UNDERWORLD IN CAMDEN ON
DEC 19TH.

3. What have been the highlight(s) and low point(s) of this year?

HIGHLIGHTS HAVE BEEN PLAYING THE BULLDOG BASH AND WITH ALL THE BANDS I
MENTIONED ABOVE, ALSO RECORDING OUR SINGLE AND 2 OTHER FUTURE SINGLES WITH
STUART EPPS. ALSO ALL THE GREAT SUPPORT WE HAVE HAD THIS YEAR FROM OUR FANS
WORLDWIDE. LOWPOINTS HAVE BEEN FEW AND FAR BETWEEN, ONLY TO SEE MANY FAKE
AND UNTALENTED ACTS IN THE CHARTS WHEN WE ARE STILL WORKING OUR ASSES OFF TO
GET THERE! THE MUSIC INDUSTRY CURRENTLY HAS ALOT TO ANSWER FOR.

4. How did the band get together and what bands influence your sound/style?

DAVE (GUITARIST) ASKED ANDY (SINGER) TO START A BAND AFTER HEARING HIM SING
IN ANOTHER BAND, TOM AND KAZ (EX-DRUMMER AND BASSIST) THEN JOINED, I (CHRIS
TRAMP) THEN JOINED ON GUITAR AFTER THE OTHER GUITARIST ANDY LEFT, WE HAVE
THEN HAD A FEW DEPARTURES, TOM THEN JOINED THE BAND ON BASS, AND RECENTLY
JIMI JOINED THE BAND AS OUR 6TH (AND LAST!) DRUMMER. OUR INFLUENCES WOULD
MOST LIKELY BE BANDS SUCH AS AC/DC, AEROSMITH, GUNS'N'ROSES, IRON MAIDEN AND
KISS.

5. Any good rock 'n' roll tales to tell?

THE USUAL! A CLASH WITH LOUDMOUTH PUNKS IN BASINGSTOKE OF ALL PLACES, WE
OFFERED THEM THE CHANCE TO BRING THEIR INSULTS TO THE STAGE, THEY DECLINED!
DRUNKEN MEETINGS WITH STEVEN ADLER (EX GUNS'N'ROSES DRUMMER) CONSTANTLY
GETTING LOST ON OUR WAY TO GIGS, AND THE BIGGEST THORN IN OUR SIDE, HOT
WOMEN! BUT SOME OF THOSE STORIES CAN NOT BE TOLD..

7. Your take on the current music scene (both rock & in general terms)...

WE ALL HAVE DIFFERENT VIEWS ON THE CURRENT SCENE, MYSELF (CHRIS TRAMP) IS
THAT THERE IS NO SCENE, THE DECLINE OF MUSIC STARTED IN THE MID 90'S, AND
RIGHT NOW IS WORSE THAN ITS EVER BEEN, ROCK IS NO LONGER REAL ROCK, MORE
LIKE TRENDY IMAGE OBSESSED BOYBANDS WITH GUITARS, GONE ARE THE DAYS OF REAL
ROCK MEN LIKE LEMMY, SO HERE WE ARE TO GENUINELY FILL THAT GAP FOR THE
FUTURE GENERATIONS. I DONT PAY ATTENTION TO THE REST OF THE MUSIC GOIN
AROUND, WHEN I HEAR ANY OF IT I WONDER WHERE RECORD COMPANIES WENT WRONG!
TOO MUCH CONCENTRATION ON IMAGE, NOT ENOUGH EMPHASIS ON REAL TALENT, AND THE
WRONG PEOPLE IN CHARGE OF RECORD COMPANIES IS THE PROBLEM, MUSIC MEN ARE NO
LONGER IN CHARGE, JUST UNIVERSITY GRADUATES WHO HAVE NO SOUL AND ONLY WANT
TO MAKE MONEY.

THE FACT THAT SO MANY OLDER ROCK BANDS ARE TOURING SO HEAVILY SHOWS THAT
PEOPLE LONG FOR THAT KIND OF MUSIC, MAINLY BECAUSE THERE ARE NO GREAT BANDS
TODAY, RECORD COMPANIES STILL DONT SEEM TO BE PICKING UP ON THE FACT THAT
THERE IS A HUGE MARKET FOR CLASSIC HARD ROCK AND THAT NEW BANDS LIKE
OURSELVES ARE HERE TO CARRY ON THE TRADITION.

8. Your superb new single 'Livin' In A Fantasy' is out in the New Year. When is your debut album out and how does the band go about writing/getting ideas for songs?

THANKYOU! WE ARE CURRENTLY IN PRE-PRODUCTION FOR OUR DEBUT ALBUM, WE HAVE
HAD MOST OF THE SONGS FOR BETWEEN 2-4 YEARS NOW, AND HAVE ALREADY GOT A
SECOND AND HALF A THIRD ALBUMS WORTH OF MATERIAL IN THE BAG, WE AIM TO HAVE
THE ALBUM READY FOR THE SPRING/SUMMER OF 2007. LIVIN IN A FANTASY WAS
MUSICALLY WRITTEN BY MYSELF AND DAVE, AND THE LYRICS WERE WRITTEN BY MYSELF
AND ANDY. THATS THE WAY THAT ALL OF OUR SONGS ARE WRITTEN, ALTHOUGH DAVE HAS
ALSO COTRIBUTED LYRICS TO A FEW OF OUR SONGS TOO. TOM AND JIMI THEN PUT
THEIR MARK ON THE SONGS WITH THE BASS AND DRUMS.

9. What would you like to achieve ideally by this time next year?

THIS TIME NEXT YEAR WE WOULD IDEALY LIKE TO HAVE HAD AT LEAST ONE ROCK CHART
HIT, A WHOLE LOAD MORE EXPOSURE, AND ULTIMATELY A RECORD DEAL.
