PINK CREAM 69 ‘In10sity’ Frontiers (2007) www.frontiers.it

Amazingly the band has been going for twenty years now and this is their tenth studio release. I have not been a big fan previously but I am happy to report this album rocks and then some! With the permanent addition of second guitarist Uwe Reitenaeur the music is very heavy and in your face. In fact bar the short, gentle ‘Desert Land’ and the ballad ‘Last Train To Nowhere’ (the only track to feature keyboards) the songs romp along.
Check out the great drum sound on ‘Children of the Dawn’ and ‘No Way Out’, with the catchy ‘I am Not Afraid’ up there with the best of TNT. Melodic metal doesn’t get much better than this! Vocalist David Readman does have Coverdale air about him especially in the intro/fade out to songs, with ‘mmms’ and ‘come on’ abound. ‘A New Religion’ will delight Whitesnake/THT/Talisman fans and again a great driving drum sound. Dennis Ward does a sterling production job as well, nice and clear with a big sound.
One of this year’s ‘must have’ albums and a cracking listen.

BUCKCHERRY ‘Next 2 You’ Atlantic (CDS 2007) www.buckcherry.com

New single from the band’s excellent ‘15’ album to coincide with a short UK tour. Their last single ‘Crazy Bitch’ generated lots of coverage mainly over the video and its string of err scantily clad ladies.
‘Next 2 You’ is classic Buckherry – cracking guitar solos, sex fuelled lyrics and a chorus that won’t leave your head. Great band, great single.
